In September 2019 four artists from Saint Petersburg — the Vokrug da Okolo collective — arrived to Kirkenes, invited by the girls on the bridge. While exploring the hyper-local landmarks and examining the town, Vokrug da Okolo uncovered several openings in the tissue of time/space. Through magical manipulations and precise mathematical calculations they managed to open a portal into Saint Petersburg in one of these holes.

Closer to winter, the temperature in Kirkenes dropped below freezing. The products of the entire humanity’s unconscious — spirits, gods, and demons — began to ooze out of the open portal onto the bare ground. Vokrug da Okolo tracked four of such deities — named Bixia Yuanjun, Ame-no-Uzume-no-mikoto, Ubir, and Baubo–back to Saint Petersburg, on the other end of the portal. Upon contact with these entities, the artists became immediately possessed. Some deities have also been reported in Kirkenes…

Vokrug da Okolo did not have enough time to open all of the portals during their short visit to Kirkenes in September. Six other holes in space/time remain unexplored. Ancient gods and demons roam around the town. If you find one such entity and let it merge with you, it will help you to open a portal yourself.

Vokrug da Okolo over-imposed a map of Kirkenes onto a satellite photograph of Saint Petersburg to mark the exact location of the portals. On the right of this map you will see the depictions of deities, which made their way to Kirkenes. Choose the one you prefer to merge with and it will guide you to a portal. White dots mark the stations, black ones — the portals. Blue dot shows you were the library is. By pressing on these dots you may access the documentation of the spells and rituals, which Vokrug da Okolo performed at different stations along the route. By pressing on the black dots you will find where a portal is yet remains to be open. At each of the stations, you will discover a fragment of a power-giving spell. Collect all of these fragments and you will put together the password to unlock a portal. National borders will no longer be an obstacle. Long live the anti-narcissistic method of traveling!
